Lidl Ireland has been a dedicated charity partner of the Irish Heart Foundation since August 2009. We are delighted to announce that they are on-board for another year.
August 2009 until now:
Lidl Fit Factor: Lidl and the Irish Heart Foundation collaborated to produce a resource for primary schools called the Lidl Fit Factor. The programme was run by hundreds of schools in its first year and many of them completed the creative project in order to be in with a chance of getting their hands on some of the €15,000 total prize fund that was up for grabs.
Fruit and Veg promotion: During Irish Heart Week, Lidl donated almost €100,000 as a result of its first fundraising initiative for the Irish Heart Foundation. The staggering amount was achieved as Lidl donated 10% of fruit and vegetable purchases of €10 or more.
Lidl staff were on the run: Over 100 of Lidl staff members donned their running gear to take part in our Valentine’s Day 10k run in the Phoenix Park. They all enjoyed the race and some of them even finished in the top 10.
Happy Families: Select stores across the country have a 'Happy Family Day' throughout the year. At these Happy Family days (which are essentially mini festivals for the store) Lidl staff ran a raffle in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation.
August 2010 onwards:We in the Irish Heart Foundation are looking forward to the coming year, when the Lidl Fit Factor will be rolled out for its second year and we hope that even more schools will get involved in this worthwhile programme. For more information about the Lidl Fit Factor you can visit www.fitfactor.ie.
Lidl will sponsor our World Heart Day Walks on September 26th 2010 and for Happy Heart Weekend 2011.
We also look forward to seeing Lidl staff taking part in some of our races throughout the year.
