  Irish Heart Foundation & Irish Cancer Society - A Strategy to reduce smoking rates and increase tax revenue, October 2010. Our recommendations in relation to tobacco price and smuggling were referred to during the debate on the Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) Bill 2010 in December 2010.

Tobacco Control Submissions

 Submission to the Department of Justice Consultation on Organised and White Collar Crime, January 2011. This submission focuses on organised crime and tobaco smuggling.

 Submission to the Department of Environment's Waste Policy Consultation, September 2010. 
This submission proposes a environmental levy on tobacco products as part of the National Waste Policy under the polluter pays principle.  

  Submission to the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform on the Criminal Sanctions discussion document, July 2010. This submission outlines key recommendations on the criminal sanctions attaching to tobacco smuggling - an offence of high importance to the IHF's advocacy in the area of tobacco control.

 Position Paper on Legislation to Protect Good Samaritans, October 2010. 
This submission calls for the protection of first responders in the Civil Law Miscellaneous Bill. This submission was quoted extensively during the Dail debate on the bill by Fine Gael Justice Spokesperson Alan Shatter TD and Labour Justice Spokesperson, Pat Rabitte TD.
