What is Skipathon
Skipping is taking Irish schools by storm!
Skipathon is a fun programme for primary schools that has been promoting the benefits of physical activity for young people in Ireland since 1984.
Early participation in fun physical activity is vital for developing healthy lifestyle habits in later life. People who practice heart healthy lifestyle are less likely to suffer from heart disease.
Skipathon 2012 is taking part from April 23th – 27th. If these dates are not ideal for your school they can run it on another date. Please note that all entries must be in before the draw for prizes which takes place on 21st of May 2012.This year there are fantastic prizes to be won! Every Skipathon Co-ordinator will be enterend into a draw to win a weekend for two in a luxury hotel.
You can also enter our Skipping Rhyme competition and be in with a chance to win a trip to EuroDisney Paris or a BMX Burner with matching helmet for our runners!
Skipathon raises vital funds for the Irish Heart Foundation, making a significant contribution to the funding of our children’s health promotion programmes such as Action for Life, Bizzy Breaks and Get Kids on the Go (see back of brochure). Each school receives 10% of the funds raised for their own school projects. The Irish Heart Foundation is 90% funded by public donations.
